Regulations of the Russian photography contest “Isn’t Russia a Paradise?”
1. General provisions
1.1. The present Regulations govern the status and procedure of the annual Russian photography contest “Isn’t Russia a Paradise?” (hereinafter — the Contest).
1.2. The founder of the Contest is the organisation the Peacemaker Foundation (hereinafter — the Founder).
1.3. The executive body of the Contest is the Jury of the Contest (hereinafter — the Executive Directorate).
Sergey Pomadchin — Member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia (CUAR) and of the International Federation of Artists. Member of the professional union of artists.
Gennady Grikov — Member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia (CUAR), of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists (IFA); has taught photography at Moscow State University, RSUH, MFUA, the Academy of Photography and elsewhere. Author of articles on photography.
Yuri Andreev — television music producer.
1.4. The present Regulations remain in force until the completion of the contest events and may be amended, supplemented or extended by decision of the Founder. All amendments and supplements are published on the Founder’s website www.mirotvorez.ru in the “Projects” section and on the Contest website www.russiaray.ru
2. Aims of the contest:
2.1. The principal aims of the contest are the popularisation of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation; the attraction of interest in historical and cultural heritage, in the beauty and diversity of nature; the imparting, by means of photographic art, of a new emotional colouring to the dialogue of generations; the fostering in young people of a sense of pride in the past and present of the peoples. The strengthening of ties with compatriots permanently residing abroad, their involvement in the spiritual and cultural life of Russia, and the formation of a “single cultural space.”
3. Nominations of the Contest:
3.1 Works of photography are accepted for participation in the Contest in the following nominations:
1. “Landscapes of Russia.”
In this nomination, images of representatives of flora and fauna, of various natural phenomena, landscapes, and also photocollages will be considered. We hope that contest participants, using the means of photographic art, will reflect in their works the beauty and diversity of the nature that surrounds us, its richness.
2. “Spiritual heritage: history and the present”
In this nomination, images of spiritual centres of various confessions, reportage and genre scenes from everyday life, places where festive events and historical occurrences are held, portraits of parishioners and clergy of all confessions are accepted.
3. Conditions of participation in the Contest:
3.1. All who wish are invited to take part in the Contest, having submitted their works in accordance with the conditions of the Contest.
3.2. The authors of the works grant the Founder the right to non-commercial use of the photographs without prior notification of the author and without payment of any remuneration. Public demonstration of works submitted to the Contest is carried out with obligatory mention of the author’s name. In the event of claims arising from persons appearing in photographs submitted by participants to the Contest upon publication or exhibition of those photographs within contest events, responsibility is borne by the authors of the photographic works.
3.3. All participants in the Contest pay registration fees. The amount of the registration fee is determined by the Executive Directorate of the Contest and is 200 (two hundred) rubles for every 3 photographs taking part in the Contest. The funds received are used to ensure the work of the Contest Commission, of the executive directorate and of contest events, to form the prize fund, to prepare publications about Contest events in the media devoted to the Contest with publication of the best photographic works, to maintain the website, to exhibit the best photographs at exhibition venues in the Russian Federation and abroad, and to produce promotional printed materials. Organisation of the preparation and holding of the awards ceremony for the winners.
3.4. Participation in the Contest signifies agreement with the conditions of the present Regulations.
3.5 The number of prize places is 12. 6 winners in the two nominations are determined by the Jury of the Contest, and 6 winners in the two nominations are determined by online voting.
4. Dates of the Contest:
4.1. The Contest is held within the dates determined by the Founder of the Contest. Information on the dates:
Stage 1: from 10 July 2014 to 30 September 2014 — acceptance of works by the Jury of the Contest, at the e-mail address russiaray@mail.ru
Stage 2: from 01 October 2014 to 05 October 2014 — summing up by the Jury of the Contest. Placement on the website www.mirotvorez.ru and on the Contest website www.russiaray.ru
Stage 3: 10 October 2014 — awards ceremony for Contest winners in Moscow.
5. Procedure for submitting applications:
5.1. To take part in the Contest it is necessary to complete registration: pay the registration fee and send the following documents to the e-mail address: russiaray@mail.ru or complete registration on the Contest website www.russiaray.ru, filling in the application form in the “Contacts” section.
5.2 Pay the registration fee to account No. 410012337875405 Yandex Money, in the amount of 200 (two hundred) rubles for every 3 photographs taking part in the Contest. Payment of the registration fee is made through terminals, the CONTACT payment system, through Svyaznoy mobile-phone shops, by transfer from cards, and through service-payment terminals that have a Yandex Wallet.

* Photographs in electronic form. Technical parameters of images sent: JPEG extension, image size — up to 0.5 Mb.
* Photographs submitted must have a title and be accompanied by comments, including the time and place of shooting.

5.2. Authors of the best works (winners of the Contest) selected by the Contest Commission for participation in exhibition events will be sent notifications according to which it will be necessary to send works meeting the following requirements: print size 40×60 cm, 300 dpi, JPEG/TIFF. Send on electronic media.
5.3. Participants in the Contest guarantee that they hold the personal non-property and exclusive property copyrights in the photographs sent to the Contest, and bear responsibility for infringement of the copyright of third parties. By submitting works to the Contest, participants thereby confirm their consent to the transfer of rights to the Founder to exhibit and reproduce their photographs for non-commercial purposes.
5.4. Applications for participation in the Contest are not accepted by ordinary post.
5.5. Works selected for participation in the Contest will be published on the Founder’s website and on the Contest website within 5 days. Authors of photographs who have taken part in the Contest receive electronic certificates of participation.
6. Summing up the Contest and determining the winners
6.1. Summing up the Contest and determining the winners is carried out by the Jury of the Contest by secret ballot.
6.2. Winners are awarded diplomas and prizes, including monetary prizes. The best works will be placed in the photographic database for the media.
6.3 Winners of the audience award are determined by online voting for participants’ works on the Contest website www.russiaray.ru.
6.4 The results of the Contest will be published on the Founder’s website www.mirotvorez.ru in the “Projects” section, and also on the Contest website www.russiaray.ru
7. Prize fund:
7.1 The prize fund consists of 3 prize places (determined by the Jury of the RPC) in each nomination:
The prize fund amounts to 190,000 rubles.
Placement of the winners’ photographic works in the media photographic database, certificates of honour, exhibition of the winners’ works.
Winners of the online vote are determined by on-line voting. Winners of the on-line vote will be marked by valuable prizes; their works will be placed in the photographic database for the media and exhibited. 6 prize places in two nominations.
6 prize places in two nominations are the works that will be selected by the Jury of the RPC. In all, 12 prize places.
